That got me digging through Tire Rack. I now really want a set of OZ Superturismo GTs for the Mini. They look perfect:
Now if only they weren’t 3lbs heavier per wheel than my current rims (surprisingly light for OEM at 17.6lbs for 16x6.5) and weren’t worth 1/4 of what the car is. Sigh...

I think 17" steelies would look a bit strange and weigh a ton. If I were to do rims they would have to be an upgrade over one of the 2 sets I already have.
Looked it up and 15" steelies weigh 7lbs over the 15" alloys my snow tires are mounted on.

My wheels are heavier than OEM, but neither the car, nor I, are competitive in autocross so fuck it haha

I have a set of wheels that I really want for the 4Runner. It’s the right bolt pattern and everything.
Except 800 a wheel before tires so.... yeah. Not going to happen.

What is the weight on those? The OZ wheels are heavier than the X-Lites I have now simply because they are 2+lbs lighter than all of Mini’s other 16" wheels.

$800 PER WHEEL?!!!??! I was gawking at $900 for a set of 4. They do look great though.

I checked earlier this month out of curiosity. It’s $766 per wheel so with shipping and tires well over that.

Volk TE37s correct? I have yet to find a car they don’t work on.

19" Rays off a 370z will fit on a Juke.

Wow, those wheels look awesome on a 4runner! I’d rock that! But $800 a wheel? Too rich for my taste.

Yeah. I don’t want my wheels to total the blue book value of the actual car.

Ya no kidding, it’s bad when you’re more worried about your wheels being stolen than your actual car.

Noooooooo!!
Ok ok let me calm down for a second... Superturismo’s have always been one of my favorite wheels and funny enough, my Mini actually had them when I got it a year and a half ago.
Love and hate I’d guess you’d call it. I never woulda thought about it until having them but they are a B*TCH to clean. They were in bad shape when I got them and I completely underestimated them. If they were brand new, I’d have to have a toothbrush out every week just to keep them manageable. And yes, get yourself a toothbrush to clean them and I hope for your sake that your brake pads produce less dust than mine. Remember, they are 16 spoke wheels - 16 spokes to clean... times three (since each has two side faces).
For the most part, I wouldn’t hate them if they just weren’t
my
particular set. They are simply incorrigible (short of sandblasting and professional refinishing). Plus I really don’t like 17s on the Mini (and they’re pretty heavy too).
I’ve been on the lookout for 15s or 16s but haven’t found anything super promising yet. I love the simple 15" 5-spokes I have my winter tires on and would love to do similar wheels for summer tires.

There’s a very good reason I am not looking at the white version. I would go with the black wheels but they would just highlight my faded grey trim. I am still on the fence about 16s vs 17s but am leaning towards 17s because the 16s look a bit to meaty for my liking. As for cleaning they can’t be as bad as the split 5s on my Outback. That car made a ton of brake dust and the side faces were textured making them a total bitch to clean. They look permanently stained at this point.

Sounds like you’re pretty convinced at this point and there’s nothing wrong with that! You definitely got the right strategy going at least and you know what you’re getting yourself into :)
I love the rally white Superturismo’s with the red OZ lettering... but my lettering is 90% faded and I can’t for the life of me get any white part truly white .
Personally, I think 16s are way more fitting for Mini’s, but it’s obviously up to you... Mini offered 17s with the S - starting in the early 2000s (before 17s were a standard on compact cars for some reason) - so I’m not grossed out by them or anything, but they make stock rotors look so (visually) undersized I think.

17s have become the standard because you buy something like a Focus RS and you are getting 19s from the factory. 16s are still tempting to me because 1) they are $40 cheaper per wheel and 2) I can just steal the hankooks from my x-lites instead of buying new rubber. If I went to 17s I have to wear out the hankooks first.

I had a black set on my dark silver R53. I eventually blacked out all the chrome too, but don’t have any pictures.
No longer have the R53 but still have the wheels for potential future projects.

Looks great! I want to do something about the large amount of chrome on my R50 but the best way to do that seems to be the aero package which is too expensive for me.

I know, it’s just crazy with new cars nowadays. I really don’t care for low profile tires. Decently “medium” profile (?) tires can look just as good (better imo) AND provide a much nicer ride.
You’re lucky you can at least reuse your tires if you go with the 16s. I want to go smaller but my summer tires have barely more than a season on then and they weren’t cheap! I can sell em but the rims are worth squat didly and I’d probably lose a few hundred on the tires
